Magic Johnson Faked Having Aids

Now everybody know Magic Johnson is my favorite player of all time but the following is being reported and I’m not feeling it.

Chris Baker and Langdon Perry were talking about Magic Johnson after bringing up the topic of health care isn’t a basic right. Then Perry asked about certain diseases that can be treated by medicine throughout a lifetime. Then the two brought up Magic Johnson and Aids. Here’s what was said.

Baker responded, “Like Magic Johnson?”

Perry replied, “Like Magic with his faked AIDS. Magic faked AIDS.”

Baker said, “You think Magic faked AIDS for sympathy?”

Perry replied, “I’m convinced that Magic faked AIDS.”

“Me too,” Baker said.

Apparently this was a conservative talk show but I don’t think it matters what political affiliation these two dimwits are with. Perry and Baker show why ignorance does not equal bliss.

First of all there is something fundamentally wrong with what they were saying to begin with. Magic Johnson never had AIDS, he had HIV which is a virus that can lead to AIDS. Just because someone has HIV does not necessarily mean they’ll get AIDS there’s a high probability of getting it within 10-15 years after being diagnosed with HIV.

I’ve got to hand it to Magic for how he responded to the comments. Instead of personally attacking Perry and Baker he instead is quoted as saying this “Millions are dying from HIV/AIDS, and the fact that they would make jokes about my status is unbelievable, Chris, Langdon, and KTLK should use their power in a more positive light by encouraging people to get tested for this disease instead of making up such ridiculous lies.”

I’ve also got to hand it to the Radio Station for steering faraway from Perry’s and Baker’s remarks. Including having a public service announcement about AIDS and also asking Magic Johnson himself on plans to help educate people better about HIV/AIDS.

The next step for the radio station is that Perry and Baker should be fired. It’s ridiculous to even consider having them stay on at the station. If Don Imus can be fired for calling the Rutgers basketball team “nappy headed hoes” then these two can be fired for saying that Magic Johnson faked AIDS.
