Morgan Freeman Seriously Hurt in Crash

Morgan Freeman, below, the Oscar-winning actor, was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis after being injured in a car accident on Sunday near his home in Tallahatchie County in Mississippi, The Associated Press reported. Mr. Freeman, 71, was in serious condition, according to Kathy Stringer, a spokeswoman at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, about 90 miles north of the accident site. Sgt. Ben Williams, a spokesman for the Mississippi Highway Patrol, said Mr. Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima belonging to Demaris Meyer of Memphis when the car left a rural highway and flipped several times shortly before midnight on Sunday. “There’s no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved,” Sergeant Williams said.
