Interview:Seiko From Bet’s Baldwin Hills

Now I’m not big on reality shows at all, to actually be honest I only watch 4 hours of T.V a week.For some reason I got drawn into watching it,and part of the reason was Seiko.

For those not familar with Baldwin Hills,its a reality series that airs on BET.Some compare it to MTV’s The Hills.After watching the preview of Season2,I actually went back and watch all of Season 1.

Seiko who wasn’t in Season 1 brings a whole new style.With a sexy swag,Seiko is hands down my favorite from the cast. In this Q&A interview you’ll get her take on other cast members on Baldwin Hills,reality TV,and whats next for Ms.Seiko

-Whats up Seiko everything good?

Seiko:Everything is more than good. Thank you for asking

For those who don’t know where are you exactly from?

Seiko:I’m straight out of sunny mo’fu**in’ California baby.

And what was it like growing up in Cali?

Seiko:Growing up in Cali is exactly like what you see in the movies. It’s crazy out here. It’s so fast paced. I Love IT.

(laughs) I feel that, now let the readers of the DefPen blog know what your mixed with?

Seiko:Well… My mother is straight up Japanese. My dad is Black & Blackfoot (Indian) & French….a little sugar & spice. You know.

Niiice,so pretty much your going to have pretty kids when that time comes (laughs)

Seiko:Thank you babe. Shoooooot,WHEN that time comes,not today, tomorrow or the next day, but sooner than later.

(laughs),so now currently you are on Season 2 of BET’s Baldwin Hills show,how did that oppurtunity come about?

Seiko:1 word.
Random.
I started chopping it up with one of the executive producers unaware of who he actually was & I met with the rest of the producers as they welcomed me to the team.

Did you watch last season?

Seiko:I caught the re-runs this time around, but I didn’t watch Season 1 when it originally aired.

And one word to describe last season from what you seen

Seiko:Awkward.

(laughs) And what made it awkward?

Seiko:Being from L.A, such a BIG but small place… especially growing up here… you kind of know everybody or know somebody who knows somebody. Watching Season 1 gave me no real feel of L.A. I was ashamed. Straight up.
I had a major issue with people watching all over the world thinking that’s how we really got down.
…cuz that’s not how Seiko gets down

So what is Seiko bringing to Season 2

Seiko:I brought myself & that’s as real as it gets.
It is a… “real”ity show.
I brought a taste of L.A. Some flavor minus the drama. . .

We definitely going to get into your take on the drama later,Alot of people compare Baldwin Hills to MTV’s “the Hills,whats your take on that?

Seiko:The only thing the two shows have in common is the name. Straight up.
Let’s Get Real.
That’s definitely more of a network thing. I think it’s a bunch of bull*hit if you ask me.

Now are you actually friends with the other cast members?

Seiko:I wouldn’t say that I’m friends with each & every cast member, but I’m definetely ’bout the only 1 who keeps it cool with everybody. Staci, Moriah, Justin, Gerren & Aunjel I still talk to to this day.
They’re cool peoples,not that the others aren’t… (giggles.)

Any cast member you are NOT too fond of?(laughs) its DefPen Radio so you know we are going to ask what the people want to know

Seiko:Naw,like I said, I’m basically the only 1 who kept it cool with everyone. I knew Lor’Rena & Aunjel before the show. We ran track together when we were in elementary. So even Lor’Rena is my girl… (giggles.)

Seiko:Earthquake !

Seiko:I think it’s really sexy when a guy really knows himself & isn’t afraid to be himself. Intelligence is so appealing along with style & swag, but those all tie in together, so if you have 1 then you have all. It wouldn’t hurt for him to be eye candy either. I like to look.
You definitely have to be able to make me laugh & crack a smile.

Ya’ll heard dudes,Seiko doesn’t want no boring dude,and step ya’ll swag up,but moving along what you do on your downtime?

Seiko:I love music. Every chance I get, I hit up 1 of these local joints & support the new, young faces & sounds tryna’ get out there. I can respect the hustle & struggle. I try to stay busy though. I have a tendency to get into shi*.

What are some artists you are currently listening to?

Seiko:Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy, Lil’ Wayne, Keyshia Cole, Kanye West, Coldplay, Lupe Fiasco, Alicia Keys. . .
The list goes on.

…can’t forget about Jay-Z

Do you still listen to Tupac?

Seiko:I was going to say Tupac. (Giggles.) I definetely still do to this day. He still inspires me. I mentioned him in my interview on Bet.com.
…in reference to the presidential election with a Black candidate.
We’re almost there man.

Yea,it actually really hit me last week like wow we’re about to have a black president,whats your take on Obama?

Seiko:I love that man. I met him a few years back in Chicago when he was getting started. I can’t even lie. I had my doubts. Not in him, but the system… so, I’m too geeked that he’s made it this far.He has my vote.

Seiko:I have a few new projects in the works, but I like to keep people surprised. So… you’ll just have to wait & see.
